Call for

Contributions

We are looking for two types of submissions.

First, we want basic research interest statements from Master students who have either recently completed their degree or will finish soon and are interested in PhD opportunities.

Second, we invite complete research ideas from early-stage PhD students in emerging technologies and business digital transformation.

Oral Presentations

Authors of accepted contributions will each give a 10-minute oral presentation at the DC, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.

Agenda & Schedule

More details will be shared on the agenda. The agenda (PDF) will share to the participants prior to the conference date.

Mentoring Program

PhD students can join a mentoring program that pairs them with seasoned experts in their field. We’ll do our best to set up one-on-one sessions between mentors and students, giving them a chance to obtain personal feedback on their research ideas.

Length of Proposal

Research proposals for doctoral theses should be no longer than 6 pages.

Along with outlining the research gap in reference to previous work, they should also detail the suggested methods to address these issues. Detailed content such as additional tables, figures, or appendices that are summarized in the proposal can be included in the additional material, which has no page limitation. You can submit preliminary experimental data if you have them, yet they are not mandatory.

Hints on Structuring

Research Proposal

The research proposal aims to gather feedback during the early stages of a doctoral journey. It should clearly describe the research problem, its importance, its relation to previous work, the proposed methodology, and any evaluations that have been planned or carried out. For a 4 to 6-page proposal, the following structure is recommended:

Introduction

What is the research problem in the context of emerging technologies and business digital transformation?

Motivation

Why is this problem important? Highlight its relevance to academics, industry, or society.

Publication

The ICETBDT Doctoral Consortium proceedings will publish the accepted contributions in the European Journal (EJITE).

Research Question

What is the main research question or hypothesis guiding your work? Optionally, include sub-questions or sub-hypotheses.

Related Work

What has been done in the field, and what specific research gap does your work aim to fill?

Approach: How will you answer the research question?

Provide a detailed method, specifying whether it is qualitative, quantitative, mixed methods or experimental. Include data collection strategies, analytical tools, models, techniques and any ethical considerations. Justify why they are suitable.

(Planned) Evaluation

How will you validate the method? You can use experiments, case studies, or datasets. Outline the planned timeframe and evaluation methods. Optionally, include preliminary results, if available, to show the potential of the approach.
